The restaurant is beautiful! The food was not worth the drive and the money. The sushi was disappointing. Bread crumbs mixed with the sushi. Ugh. The ramen had packet quality. Also kept being reminded how expensive the food was. Was ready to leave.
Really not super impressed with what we ordered. The Spicy Maki roll is not worth it in my opinion. I would have rather ordered single rolls rather than ground mush. The spicy Mexico was pretty good nothing special. Me and my wife ordered the spicy sesame chicken and it was pretty bland. The sauce was all in the bottom of the bowl and was like soup. If the sauce was thicker and coated the chicken it would be better. Lastly it wouldn’t even say any of the spicy items had any spice whatsoever.
If I’m in the area I’d consider coming back and trying something else.
Edit went back and tried the Spicy Kimchi Ramen and it was the same thing no spice, not a lot of flavor and the noodles I’m guessing were from a package.
The location and atmosphere have the potential for this place to be really good. Throw in that you can get a good deal on gift cards from Costco and could really be a home run. Sadly though the mediocre food for the price and dismal service really hinder this place from being a frequent stop restaurant. Our waitress was annoyed when we opted to wait an extra minute for a window booth to be cleaned/prepared even though the hostess offered it to us. Through out the meal our waitress not only completely forgot our appetizer, but failed to ever refill our drinks or even check in on us after the food arrived. I get finding help is tough right now, but even so a minimal amount of effort earns you a lot of empathy which wasn’t earned here. Save your money and get hyvee sushi if in Ankeny and needing a sushi fix.
Always love going to Wasabi in the District. They always have fresh sushi selection. And usually a hard to find selection also. Love their Moscow mules. The servers are great!
The black garlic ramen is sooo good. I got it on a whim one time and absolutely loved it.
The atmosphere was welcoming. However, it did take us awhile to be served. The lemonades are a must try. I’m not a fan of sake so I wouldn’t order it again. The food did come out all at once. The Brussels sprouts were delicious. They had the perfect texture and flavors. The kimchi fried rice is a must try! The egg was beautifully placed on the rice and it had so much aroma and flavors. The ramen was bland and would not recommend. The broth isn’t as flavorful as I would’ve hoped.
Super cute place with great food! The kani salad was my favorite.
Tried this place for the first time! We enjoyed it. We thought the prices were a bit higher but probably because of the location. Other than that, good food, good drinks, and really nice atmosphere!
Everything was good enough but not great. The service was good and the ambience was reasonable (romantically dark lighting, average furniture). The food was slightly on the bland side (that's the Iowa norm though). I would describe it as a …
